Strategy Focused Technology. What is it? Basically, it is the concept of truly understanding a clients business need and helping to create and implement a technology that fits their business. This is a simple concept, but is so rarely done. Most technology firms say they do this, but their clients often will say something different. Many of our competitor’s clients may have experienced something like this…

You walk into your server room or data center and see rack after rack on new equipment. You have been told by your technology provider that you have four new physical boxes, each fully populated to allocate resources for multiple virtual machines. Your new hosted phone system is moving packets back and forth. All of your software is the latest version. The switches are flickering, SAN is humming, and a $100,000 later, things just couldn’t be any better. Cisco, NetApp, HP and Microsoft are so happy!

Your technology partner came to speak with you several months ago and helped you understand how technology can solve your problems. You had a slow email system. Your phones were just old. You had data stored everywhere… on your servers, staff PC’s, thumb drives, and CDs. Your website was barely keeping up with the traffic that has been increasing over the past months.

Why Augment When You Can Retain?

Have you ever brought on a contractor that didn’t work out? Did they take a week off due to an illness? Did the scope of work go beyond their expertise? Have you had a variety of projects, each requiring a unique skill set, but bringing on several contractors wasn’t an option?

We, at Gruuv, have a service offering that many of our clients enjoy deeply. The interesting part is that most of our clients didn’t know it was possible. We offer Retained Services to all of our clients. Essentially, retained services allow any client to use our services however they choose. They will have a minimum monthly allotment of hours they can use, and typically get a discounted rate. We also guarantee 24-48 hour response.

 

Many of our clients (and some others) have asked what is so different from this and staff augmentation.

The answer: A LOT!

Staff augmentation services work as follows. The client will call their staffing vendor and say they need a contractor for a project. For this example, lets say an Exchange Engineer. They staffing firm will scour the job boards searching for a person/candidate that fits the job description. They will send many resumes to the client for review (the scary part is most staffing companies never even interview the candidate), until the client feels comfortable with one and decides to move forward. The staffing company hires the candidate and works out a contract with the client at an hourly rate and a duration of time.
